Captain of a Huckleberry Party!

Date:Saturday, April 1, 2017 – 3:00pm to 5:00pm
Location:Thoreau Farm: Birthplace of Henry David Thoreau, 341 Virginia Road, Concord MA 01742

Dr. Kevin Dann, author of Expect Great Things: The Life and Search of Henry David Thoreau, will give a talk on this new book and perform Captain of a Huckleberry Party.

Dr. Dann is to make the pilgrimage to Thoreau Farm in honor of Henry Thoreau’s 200th anniversary. Dr. Dann will be walking (and driving) from New York City to Thoreau Farm, performing Captain of a Huckleberry Party – his provocative celebration of Thoreau in riddle, rhyme, and story – in key towns along the way, and will conclude his Captain of a Huckleberry Party where it all began: at Thoreau Farm!

Dr. Dann hopes to inspire a new generation of Americans to take up Thoreau’s practice of enlivened observation of Nature and enlightened citizenship.

Historian, naturalist, and troubadour, Dr. Kevin Dann is the author of 10 books. He has taught at Rutgers University, University of Vermont, and State University of New York.

This is a FREE event open to the general public. Seating is limited, please email margaretcb@thoreaufarm.org to make a reservation.
