Location:
Concord's Historical Colonial Inn, 48 Monument Street, Concord MA 01742

Enjoy fresh strawberry shortcake as Rev. Dr. Jim Sherblom speaks about one of Concord's favorite sons: Henry David Thoreau and Money.

As a long-time Concordian, Unitarian Universalist minister, transcendentalist, former public company Chief Financial Officer, and venture capitalist, Rev. Dr. Jim Sherblom understands Henry David Thoreau and money as few people do. Thoreau's lifestyle and philosophy were deeply affected by his attitudes and approaches to money.

Jim holds a BA in history from Yale University, an MBA from Harvard Business School, as well as a Masters of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry from Andover Newton Theological School (ANTS). Jim serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees at ANTS. Jim lives in Concord with his wife, Loretta.

In his previous careers, Jim was a Bain and Company strategy consultant; Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Genzyme Corporation; Chair and Chief Executive Officer of Transgenic Sciences Inc. Jim was also founding Managing Partner of Seaflower Ventures, an entrepreneurial venture capital fund.

Since Henry Thoreau and his extended family lived in what is now part of the Colonial Inn, they have a shared history. The Inn is offering a 15% off discount for dinner in the Merchant's Row Restaurant for those attending the Dessert Lecture on June 9th.

Reservations are recommended by June 1st. Please send a check for $18 to The Thoreau Society, 341 Virginia Road, Concord, MA 01742. For information, contact dianne.weiss@thoreausociety.org.
