The Trustees of the Concord Free Public Library cordially invite you to a reception and viewing of "Picturing Emerson: A Selection of Lifetime Portraits of Ralph Waldo Emerson"

An exhibition drawn primarily from the William Munroe Special Collections of the Concord Free Public Library, the Joel Myerson Collection of Nineteenth-Century American Literature at the University of South Carolina, the Houghton Library at Harvard University, and the Emerson House collection stewarded by the Ralph Waldo Emerson Memorial Association.

Offered in anticipation of the forthcoming publication by Harvard of Picturing Emerson: An Iconography, by Joel Myerson and Leslie Perrin Wilson

The program will include welcome and introductions with Sherry Forman Litwack, President, Concord Free Public Library Corporation; Brief comments by Margaret Emerson Bancroft, President, Ralph Waldo Emerson Memorial Association; Perspectives of the curator and scholar/collector with Leslie Perrin Wilson, Curator, William Munroe Special Collections, Concord Free Public Library and Joel Myerson, Carolina Distinguished Professor of American Literature, Emeritus, University of South Carolina; and a performance of pieces from the music collection of Emerson's daughter Ellen.
