Perhaps best known for writing about “sense of place,” Mitchell is our keynote speaker for the Write Connection. In this lecture, Mitchell will draw in part on his book on Thoreau, Walking towards Walden, to offer insight into how to write deliberately and passionately about your chosen themes.

John Hanson Mitchell is the author of Ceremonial Time: Fifteen Thousand Years on One Square MileA Field Guide to Your Own Backyard: A Seasonal Guide to the Flora and Fauna of the Eastern U.S; as well as Walking Towards Walden: A Pilgrimage in Search of PlaceHe is also the founding editor of  Massachusetts Audubon’s award-winning journal, Sanctuary.
